The Love Notes provide concerts for senior and other community groups such as JCCs, synagogues, independent and assisted living facilities, nursing homes , and more. The concerts can be Jewishly-oriented, drawing from Hebrew, English and Yiddish songs from Jewish holidays, liturgy and the spirited Jewish camp songbook.
The Love Notes also specialize in classic and contemporary songs from Broadway, Jazz, and the Great American Songbook. Future shows will also highlight oldies from rock and roll, the Beatles, and focus on particular song writers like Sondheim, Irving Berlin, Rogers and Hammerstein, Lerner and Lowe and Bernstein. The song list has something for everyone’s taste and the audience is welcome to sing along. You can request what type of concert you would like and we can customize it to your audience’s tastes.
Linda and Gary are accompanied on the piano by Tom Shaw, their versatile and super talented Musical Director and you can also invite the full Tom Shaw Trio to perform.

Rabbi, Cantor, Dr. Linda Bernstein: Rabbi Linda is the producer, creative director, writer and performer. She loves to do characters and accents and has received years of training in musical theater , acting, piano and guitar. She is also an award-winning Doctor of Pharmacy, producer, writer and host of educational media. She brings her knowledge and love of Broadway musicals to every performance. As the show’s moderator, she infuses heart and humor into every performance to totally engage the audience. No one leaves their seats until it’s over!!
Dr. Gary Stein: Dr. Gary is a retired physician and former member of the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus with a passion for jazz performance and listening. He is Linda’s husband and compliments her musical strengths beautifully with his suave style… and he can scat!
The Love Notes: Formed during Linda and Gary’s courtship with the help of their accompanist and talented musical director, Tom Shaw, they wowed the crowd at the “What’s Your Talent” show at the SF JCC and recently performed for the first time with the Tom Shaw Trio to rave reviews !
The Tom Shaw Trio was formed in 2008, and is made up of Tom Shaw, piano/vocals; Roberta Drake, drums; and John Greitzer, bass. They perform for weddings and special events, musical theatre productions, and films. They also collaborate with numerous singers and performers at San Francisco Bay Area venues, including Feinstein’s at the Nikko, SF Oasis, Martuni’s and more.
